Christian Right or Islamic Right? Can You Tell Them Apart?

There is precious little difference between the Christian Right and the Islamic Right.

The only difference I have been able to identify is that Christians believe that Jesus ascended into Heaven on His own, while Muslims believe that Mohammad ascended into Heaven riding a flying horse.

Aside from that, the Christian Right and the Islamic Right seem to be on the same page.

Both oppose abortion.

Both believe the husband is the master of the family.

Both believe their religious books (the Bible and the Qu’ran) are the Word of God.

Both believe being gay is a sin.

Both believe their holy books’ admonitions to kill gays.

Both believe the government should operate under their God’s law.

Both believe in theocracy.

Both believe that they are serving their God.

Both believe that they should be able to impose their religions upon others.

Both are scary as Hell!

  1. The Islamic right is able to recruit people to commit murder for their cause because there is a large pool of poor, desperate, angry people, who want to fight against the system that oppresses them. They are easily manipulable into thinking they are doing the word of God.
Far-right Christians in America have similar beliefs, but aren’t desperate enough to act on them, with a few exceptions (murderers of doctors woking at abortion clinics etc).
Economics and politics lay a big part in extremist, fanatical movements!

  2. Are there members of the Christian right, in this country, who would execute gays today? I know some people believe the world would be a better place without homosexuality, but I’m not sure there is a “pure” Christian rightist who would say she endorses everything you cite (or accuse her of) about the Christian right.

I’m not even sure Ted Cruz believes in everything you claim about the Christian right, in spite of his rhetoric.

Now, the important difference between the two “religions” you cite above is a follower’s willingness to carry out violence or murder in the name of his beliefs.

Can you cite a few politicians who might be considered Christian rightists and provide references for this claim?

I think the Christian right in this country is more liberal than you know.

    • There have been half a dozen lunatic Christian leaders who maintain that the Orlando shooter was doing God’s work, including Pat Robertson, who says that it was punishment for the country embracing gay marriage.
