Today’s Thought:

I am voting for Stein, as I am in California and Hillary will carry the state by a landslide.

But Stein voters need to get a grip on reality. There is no way in Hell that Jill can be elected. She isn’t leading in a single state.

This election cycle is about growing the Green party, not winning the White House.

Our other job should be to make sure that Hillary loses. She is the evil empire personified. She is the status quo, the establishment, the oligarchy.

Author’s Notes:

I am unaware of any other blog with the Armory’s mission of radicalizing the animal movement. I certainly hope I am not alone, and that there are similar sentiments being expressed by comrades unknown to me.

  1. Why in the world would you not vote for the Humane Party candidate….Clifton Roberts….over Jill Stein? This election cycle should be about growing the Humane Party….NOT the Green Party. Clifton Roberts is not only a VEGAN and animal rights/liberation advocate…he is simply a better all around candidate than Stein. I would expect you to know this.

    • I would not vote for the Humane party for the same reason I would not vote for a Marxist party.
I am an animal liberationist, an animal rights advocate, and a vegan.
      I am also a Marxist.
But an animal liberation platform is as futile a platform as would be advocating Marxism at the ballot box.
The Humane party marginalizes our efforts by its very nature. Even if every animal rights advocate were to vote Humane, it would garner a microscopic percentage of the vote. It makes us look ridiculous, ineffective, and crazy.
For those same reasons I would not vote for a Marxist party.
To actually help shape the political landscape, we must work with the tools available to us. The Greens are a leftist party that can inflict damage on the Democrats. Growing the Greens could force the Democrats to move left or to die.
But there is no strategic reason to vote Humane.

  2. My sentiments exactly, Roland.

The Greens make a powerful presence in the Aussie parliament… They often hold the balance of power on major issues. Without them, many issues would be deadlocked and no decisions would be made. And Greens make better moral decisions and environmental decisions and are not beholden to powerful investment companies and lobbyists.

I started voted Greens twenty years ago when it was not fashionable but I knew one day, a critical mass would evolve and they would one day wield power. Look at Germany…Greens have been the ruling party there before.

This last election In early July, a candidate for the Animal Justice Party won a seat I parliament. Now, who would have thought that would happen? Well, me for one. I voted for that party In the last election (first time I swung away from Greens) in my electorate and the candidate didn’t win… But others thought like me elsewhere, enough of them, too, that somebody DID win!

I convinced my daughter to vote for Animal Justice Party too… So word of mouth is important.

People and electorates evolve over time with a growing awareness of issues. Ok, say the evil Hillary wins in California with ten per cent of the vote and the greens get nine percent. She’ll always know how unpopular she is. More importantly, others will get energised to vote for Greens next time and I feel certain that that’s what happened here over the past twenty years.

Next time, in four years, maybe the Greens WILL win the election in the US. Four years is a long time in politics. Things can change in unexpected ways, quite rapidly. Hillary will mess up so badly that people will be bursting at the seams for a fresh new political arena in your country. I foresee very dark times coming your way, in the USA, Roland. Please stay safe.

    Cheers,

    Grace
