JO DAVIESS COUNTY, Ill. (WIFR) — A hunter was killed Saturday during a “deer drive” in Jo Daviess County.

The hunter was identified as Brian Busker, 40, of Scales Mound, Illinois.

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources says Busker was participating in a “deer drive” around 2:45 p.m. Saturday in rural Elizabeth Township.

IDNR says he was participating with ten other hunters when he was reportedly shot and killed on accident.

A deer drive is defined by IDNR as a deliberate action by one or more persons (whether armed or unarmed) whose intent is to cause deer to move within firearm range of one or more participating hunters.

Illinois Conservation Police is leading the death investigation with assistance from Illinois State Police and the Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Office.
